Divorce: Child Financial support and spouse visa

Hi I am bit confused what payment has to be same Net or Gross pay? as my Net pay is slightly different couple of months due to Tax Calculation but Gross pay is same all 6 months. I am applying under Cat A ( Employed and salaried).

Financial requirement is based on gross pay, or pay before deductions.

I have another question: My husband is divorced and father of 2 sons but they live with his ex not sure where on earth? So he is not supporting them financially as doesnt know where they live or have any kind of contact. Does he need to provide any sort of documentation in regards to their custody and financial support?
