Switching from tier 2 ict dependant to tier 2 General

Post by Priya8656 » Thu Jun 27, 2019 12:29 pm

Hi,
Iam currently on t2 ict dependant visa and have accepted a new job offer who are ready to sponsor , but only after completing probation of 6 months. The job is on shortage occupation.
1. Will that be no problem after 6 months on sponsoring an existing employee? 'coz they don't have to go through rlmt, as it's on shortage list.
2. As they have already advertised this role inn multiple websites for more than a month, is it worth to ask them to process in rlmt after joining.
3.do I have to resign my job when they start tier 2 general application?
4. Is tier 2 general visa something which has to be done before starting my first day at work?
Which means they cannot process once I start my work?

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

They/you need to meet the requirements.
2. As they have already advertised this role inn multiple websites for more than a month, is it worth to ask them to process in rlmt after joining.
Shortage occupation do NOT require RLMT. What is the SOC for the job?
3.do I have to resign my job when they start tier 2 general application?
No.
4. Is tier 2 general visa something which has to be done before starting my first day at work?

Many dependents apply for Tier 2 general with the same employer if they can get an RCoS.

Thanks for your immediate response.
Soc code is 2136.
In case in future if they say I don't qualify for shortage occupation... Can I request through rlmt.
Because I read in a thread somewhere, rlmt cannot be done existing employees as they will be considered as preselected.
You have mentioned dependants apply with same employer... Is that applicable for shortage occupation or rlmt.

What is your job exactly? SOC 2136 is on BOTH the non shortage and shortage occupation. For it to be classed as shortage, it has very specific requirements.

Yes, up to the employer if they choose to do it or not.
Because I read in a thread somewhere, rlmt cannot be done existing employees as they will be considered as preselected.
Which thread exactly?? Many have done this and been successful.

Both.

The SOC code refers senior programmers and software developers.
If after 6 months probation, if I do not qualify for shortage occupation and can only go through rlmt route, do they have to conduct the rlmt test again?Or can they use the advertisement from before?

Sorry it's confusing... If this not considered as preselected then what is?

After 6 months I would be an existing employee working for them. How can they prove that Iam not preselected for the role what ever path I choose shortage/rlmt.

Yes I see the difference now.my role comes under appendix J non shortage.
So I guess I have to go through RLMT.
Can you please answer my latest questions above considering its through rlmt.

If RLMT is done 200% correctly to prove to HO that you are not pre selected then no issues. HO could ask for evidence of all applicants and reasons why they are not suitable.

Thanks a lot. Do they have to do rlmt again after 6 months. Or can they show the evidence of other applicants that applied now.

Like I said earlier I would be employeed with them when they do rlmt... So how to prove that I am not pre selected.

RLMT is only valid for 6 months and it must be valid when they apply to HO for a RCoS.
