Hi fellow members,

Can someone please help me with my situation.
im filling the british citizenship form at the momento, ive seen couple of comment similar like my situation but couldnt work it out.
I hold ILR last 3 years i have it as my own right. im also married with bc
Unfortunately me and husband are no longer together i dont have his papers for application! ( also i dont want to use his documents for my application )so my current martial status is still married. (we didnt filled any documents for divorce). i know im eligible to applying naturalisation on my own right but i dont know "HOW" as i have been in this country for the past 10 years.
if i tick the married status its asking me my partner detail ! and qualifying me under 3 year route. is there something i can do or choose in the form ?

I would really appreciate a detailed reply.
Sorry not sure how to respond to this and hope you can see. I was in same situation as you and applied February but still waiting. I wrote my married name which is my legal name and under ‘other name’ wrote my maiden name and ‘reason for other’ I confirmed date of marriage, explained my marriage has ended and we are processing divorce. Under relationship status I put ‘unmarried partner’ as I have a new boyfriend. Otherwise as you say if you put married you have to note your ‘husbands’ (or ex) in this, address etc and I didn’t want to do this. He would scupper something for sure.

Now I’m not sure what I did was correct but it’s how I got around saying I was/am married but it’s over and didn’t write exhusbands details. Hope this helps

My spouse applied for naturalisation on the basis of ILR + BC spouse and had her UKVCAS appointment for biometrics and document scanning.

She applied for EU Settled status on the basis of ILR and marriage and living in the UK with EU citizen (myself, later became BC, valid per Lounes). The EU Settled status application is still in progress.

Would obtaining EU Settled status be a change in circumstances for the purpose of the naturalisation application, provided that she already meets settlement criteria through ILR?

Would we have to notify the HO naturalisation team of the presumably newly obtained EU Settled status?

Thanks.

Hi Guys,

I was granted ILR on October 2018 since I am married to a British citizen I immediately applied for British citizenship by naturalisation when I passed the Life in the UK test. Before the ILR status, I was on a five years refugee visa and I was holding a travel document UN 1951 which expired on 18/04/2018. I did not apply for a new travel document when I had the ILR permit granted, I thought this may complicate my naturalisation process and I was expecting to get that in maximum six months. Now it is been seven months (applied on 19/12/2018) since I applied for the citizenship, I contacted the Home office to get an update, they replied me the followings “Our enquiries into your application are ongoing. Once your application is with a caseworker you will be contacted”.
I contacted them a couple of times more after the first follow-up and they said the status remains the same.

I am not sure how long more this may take therefore I am planning to apply for a new travel document but I don’t know if I am allowed to apply for it based on my current residency status (ILR) while my citizenship application is ongoing, if I apply for this document do I need to notify citizenship department or does this conflict with my citizenship application.

I really appreciate if can someone advise me on this matter, please.

Thank you.
Did you submit evidence of meeting the B1 English requirement AND the liuk test???
Thank you for your reply, Yes I did, I have got a master degree from a UK university, I submitted a copy of my higher education certificate and the original Life in the UK result. My question is to get a new travel document while my British citizenship application is ongoing, first of all can I apply for a new travel document based on my current residency status (ILR), also if I apply for this document do I need to notify citizenship department or does this conflict with my citizenship application.
I would appreciate if can someone advise me on this matter, please
This is my third attempt :( please help me on this matter.

You should ask your travel document question in the forum link below. It is not relevant to the British Citizenship sub forum or this General discussion topic. It is completely separate to your citizenship application process.

Dear Members,

Can using a solicitor firm for representing the applicant’s naturalisation application help the applicant if the application is slightly complex. Would you recommend it using the solicitor firm?

Many thanks and Best Regards,

Using a solicitor has no influence on your application.

You as the applicant must meet ALL the requirements.

Based on my own personal experience, a solicitor can be useful when it comes to more complex applications in terms of preparing a good cover letter which clearly explains things in an organised and sound manner. It can also be helpful in terms of deciding how to deal with elements subject to the Home Office's discretion such as absences of more than 90 days in the last 12 months or more than 450 days in the last 5 years.
