ILR for dependant

I hold an ILR and my wife and child are eligible for it now. Their TIER 2 dependant visa runs util December 21. Is it necessary for them to apply for ILR together or can we do our child's later on?

Is your child UK born? If UK born child does not need ILR. Can register as BC after your ILR.

You can apply for ILR alone if you want. Dependents (wife and child) can apply later on given they must apply before their expiry of the current visa.

Just wanted to clarify as indefinite-leave-to-remain/faqs-for-ilr ... 99638.html mentions a 2 working day interval.

"Life in the UK test can be taken at any time prior to applying for ILR. Do note that you need to book a place at least 7 days in advance and that it must be taken at least 2 working days before an in-person application. Keep in mind that certificate given for passing the test is a very important document. It is mandatory to provide this (where applicable) with your application and if you lose the certificate, you will need to take the test again. As on date, LITUK test result never expires (is valid indefinitely). "

1. The list of documents mentioned a proof immigration status and the current BRP. What can be produced as proof of immigration status other than the current BRP ?
2.Is a covering letter mandatory?

You complete the form with the relevant information yes. No need for evidence other than the passport.

You don't get an IHS refund if you apply for ILR.

You will not get a refund if:

your visa application is successful but you do not come to the UK
you leave the UK before your visa ends, for example to make a new application
you’re told to leave the UK before your visa expires
you’re applying for indefinite leave to remain or changing to another visa where you do not need to pay the IHS
