You can apply any time, but if you apply before the 5 years are complete you will only receive Pre-Settled status. The HO encourages people in your situation to wait and apply only when you complete 5 years (otherwise you'll need to apply twice, once now for Pre-Settled, then again when the 5 years complete for Settled Status).
This is irrelevant. Only time spent officially as the family member of an EU citizen counts towards the 5 years. Unless prior to your marriage you were issued a EEA RC or Family Permit as the unmarried partner of your now wife -then fiancée- UK residence before your marriage does not count.My residence in the UK already surpassed 6yrs.
It is my understanding children qualify for British citizenship if they are born in the UK and one of the parents has permanent residence/ILR/Settled Status.-My son was born in the UK but uses European passport due to the Mum's status as at the time,but since she now has a settled status, I want to believe we can apply for his passport.
