Durable relationship

Post by moliere » Sat Jul 12, 2008 10:50 pm

Hi there,

I must say that this medium has been a great help for so many people with a bit of advice on immigration issue.

My questions are:

-What exactly constitute "Durable relationship"?
-What are the "proofs needed to show that you're in a durable relationship with someone?
-What are the chances of such application?

Different countries may have different interpretations. For the UK, see also EEA Family permit for Australian unmarried partner of EU cit.

Thanks so much for your reply.I understand from those links that durable relationship is defined by the Home Office. But do you think the following list can make a proof of durable relationship in the UK, showing the same address:

-Letter from our GP
-Our NHS cards
-Our tenancy agreement
-Our Joint life insurance
-Our Gas/Electricity bills
-Emails
-And loads of photographs

And what are the chances of such application?

Thanks so much for your response

'Durable' usually means 'two years' altho I don;t think it actually says that, that's what the UK says irrespectively...

Is this an EU app or UK rules app?

You need 20 docs each over the two year period showing a common address, from five different sources and as many as possible in joint names.

Photos and emails I wouldn't bother, they won't be counted. Documentary evidence is paramount.

The HO stick rigourously to this and the two year period so don't leave any gaps or shortfall.
