Overstayed gets Spouse Visa after returning home to apply

Post by Nightman22 » Thu Mar 14, 2019 11:27 pm

Hi there.

I'm posting this to say thank you for advice and give others hope.

Some may remember me posting and my history.

But briefly I was in the UK since October 2000 and overstayed since 2003 after meeting my partner. That is 15 years. I applied when I could meet requirements to try and regularise my stay in country. After no success I finally bit the bullet and returned to South Africa October last year and applied for a Spouse visa.

Beyond all hope and still shocked, I was granted a visa on the 5 March. Even as I went to collect my passport I was sure it was refused but as I opened my passport I saw the vignette. Imagine my surprise.

I was too scared to return. I didn't want to be away from my husband indefinitely. But time flew. I reconnected with my family. It was worth every second.

I don't know if I was just lucky, but I would recommend anyone in my situation to do the same. It is painful and scary. But in the end you get the result.

Good luck to you all. There is hope.

A lot members got success through similar way. At numerous times it has been advised here to return back home and apply from there to get faster results rather than staying illegally and relying on FLRfp.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Going through the same, my partner has returned home and we are going to get married there.
I’m so worried but hoping for a result like yours!
Did you have to explain why you overstayed?

Nightman22 hasn't visited the forum since Mar 15, 2019
