Passport expiry and visa renewal

Post by mithralaya1 » Mon Sep 30, 2019 9:33 pm

Hello everyone,

I am currently in the process of applying for my second renewal of my spouse to British citizen visa.

My current passport expires on June/2021. But I need my visa validity to be for the full 2.5 years to qualify for my ILR. This will take my visa validity to June/2022.

Having less validity on my passport, will I get my new visa for the full 2.5 years? Or will it be issued only till June/2021?

If they issue only till June/2021, it will unnecessarily cause more money to be spent on one more family visa renewal.

Should I go ahead and renew my visa on my current passport? Or should I renew my passport first?

Thanks in advance.

No issues. Passport need to be valid at least at the time of application. You will get the same standard length of visa on BRP card even beyond the expiry of your passport.
