FLR (M) 1st extension (BRP renewal)

Post by ritz2020 » Thu Oct 17, 2019 10:15 pm

Hello experts,

Apologies if it is too early to ask these questions now but I am curious to know in advance to be well prepared as I have extensive travel plans next year! Let me know if I should wait and ask the questions next year!

My visa (sticker) starts from 31st Dec 2017 until 30th Jan 2018 (on the passport) to pick the BRP from the UK.
Arrived in the UK on 22nd Jan 2018
Picked up the BRP on 23rd Jan 2018
BRP is valid until 30th Sept 2020 (next year!)

a. I understand that I've been given the BRP for 33 months? If yes, Is there any benefit of it on applying for the renewal?

b. When should I apply for my 1st renewal (FLR_M for the rest of the 27 months) as I am quite confused about 'apply before completing 30 months/within 28 days of expiring' after reading your posts related to BRP renewal?

c. I am thinking of writing CEFR B1 Grade 5 from Trinity next year - what is the validity of that certificate? Can I use it for my settlement application in 2022?

You guys have always been very informative and helpful. Many thanks in advance.
Regards
ritz

A) First initial spouse visa usually be issued for 33 months when applied from abroad

B) You can apply extension 28 days before completing your 30 months since arrived. But unless visa rules/personal circumstances are not changing the extension should be applied very close to expiry to avail the maximum length of visa.

C) It usually be valid for 2 years and even it gets expired but still can be used for ILR provided the test type and centre remain on HO list.

Hello Seagul,

Thank you for the reply.

Wondering if you have any idea about the official link of UK gov regarding the timelines to submit the renewal requests (FLR_M)?

Regards
