Naturalisation Long delay, Please help

Post by IrobotZ » Tue Oct 29, 2019 5:35 pm

Dear Friends

I have submitted my naturalisation application on later Feb 2019 and I have a perfect track records in the UK without break any law here(my route:Student visa-Tier 1 investor-ILR). At the 6 months mark I called the home office and they provided me with a email saying they are still working on it but nothing happens so I contacted my MP on Sep this year to try to chase the UKBA again, got another letter 20 days later from my MP and the UKVI saying my application is still under active consideration and they need to conduct enquires to diff gov agencies and external agencies... and they refuse to give me a timeline for my application result...Waited another month and nothing happened again...

Could anyone please kindly let me know if theres anything else that I can do to chase a result?

Also I am about to move home to another city, Is it possible to change the city council that the naturalisation ceremony take place or do i have to travel back to where i use to live to attend it if my application is approved in the future.

Thanks very much for your help and I hope you all have a lovely day.

Kindly Regards

A desperate guy who is still waiting :(

Nothing more you can do. Some applications simply take a lot longer than others.

Unlikely you can change it now and would have to travel.

The only other way to try is to get your MP involved - however MP's don't have any additional powers and generally cannot speed up things.
NB. UKBA is now UKVI.

Thanks very much for the reply and correction, I have already asked my MP for help but the UKVI just told me its still under consideration without giving me any time frame :( Is this means from this point forward theres nothing I can do to chase the UKVI anymore?

As pointed out in many posts - waiting is the only option it seems.

In the past, some applicants had to wait in terms of years.

more than 3 years? this fact has just made me speechless.... such incompetent in a developed country is beyond my reorganisation...

Thanks for the info, some member mentioned they have done SAR or using ombudsman, would these practices be useful?

I do appreciate your help.

A Subject Access Request will get you a copy of what the Home Office has on record for you. So it could help you see what comments have been put on your immigration file and help you rectify any issues/errors on record. But it, of itself, won't be able to do much else.

using ombudsman
You won't be able to use the Parliamentary Ombudsman for a month or so, as it is required by law that your local MP must authorise them to progress the complaint. As there are no MPs till at least 17th December (although the elections are on the 12th, the MPs get sworn in on the 17th) and it is then Christmas season, it is quite likely that your complaint will not be looked at till mid-January.
I am not a lawyer or immigration advisor. My statements/comments do not constitute legal advice. E&OE. Please do not PM me for advice.

Thanks very much for the detailed explanation, in this case I guess I will do the SAR soon and ask my MP to grant permission of ombudsman by giving whatever I have found via SAR to try to push a result from UKVI. Hopefully it would work.
