Schengan Work Visa while holding valid Tier-2 General Visa

Hi All,

My husband holds a valid Tier-2 General Visa & we are in the UK. Due to the nature of his sales work, he is required to travel frequently to the Continental Europe. What is the Visa guidelines for the same? His company is open to sponsor the Visa. Can someone shed light, if one can get a Schengan work Visa done while holding a valid Tier-2 General visa? Is it possible to hold 2 valid work Visa's? His employer is willing to sponsor for both Tier-2 General & Schengan work permit.

My husband holds an Indian Passport(not ILR or British passport category).

Schengen visa is a EU members started visitor visa. Anyone who qualifies can hold one as it is a visitor visa.

Each EU country has their own rules on work permits and requirements and it is not a blanket EU wide thing generally like a Schengen visit visa.

My husbands trips are likely to be business trips in nature. It is possible he will get have clarity of the country he will be visiting first. But a number of such future travels is inevitable. What is the typical duration a schengan Visa will be granted for?(ex. 1 to 2 years or the validity of the Tier-2 general Visa itself)
Just wanting to get some clarity if a Visa needs to be applied everytime he needs to travel? Travels are bound to be ad-hoc, so would prefer not to have long lead time planning for Visa processing before every trip.

Also, can one do business trips to europe using a Schengan Visa? or is there a different category of Visa for business trips?
