Outside of uk before naturalisation application

Dear Sirs,

I am eligible to apply for naturalisation in March/April ... if I stay outside of the uk more than 90 days ( ex: if I stay outside 150days) in last one year ( between March 2019 to March 2020) THEN when I will be eligible to apply for naturalisation and citizenships again ?

Not sure what you don’t understand. If between March 2019 and March 2020 your absences are 150 days, then you exceed 90 days. So you will have to stay in UK a minimum of 2 more months to bring down your absences to 90 days. May 2020 you should qualify given you do not exceed 90 days in the last 12 months from the date of application in May 2020 (you will have to check which months you have traveled point is clear).

Also, May 2015 - May 2020 you should not have exceeded 450 days in total.

12 months preceding date of application=90 days
60 months preceding application= 450 days.

If you have 150 days of absences in the preceding 12 months from date of application- it may be refused.
So.. you ll have to apply a few months into the future or atleast till when you count back and find that you have only 90 days out of the country in the past 12 months.
You’ll have to be present in the country to minus the absence.
I hope that makes sense.
If not state ur exact absence dates over the past 5 years and it’ll be easier to calculate when ur eligible instead of trying to explain further.

Now it seems quite clear. I though I have to wait till March 2021 to apply for citizenships.

I just calculated that last 5 years ( 2015-2020) absences are ( 84 + 126) = 210 days ...

So March 2019 to March 2020 absence is 126 days ..that means I exceed 36 days and that means o will be eligible in April/may! so can you please make sure the date when I will be eligible to apply for naturalisation please, as I got ilr in March 2018!

I got ilr in March this year, I went outside in June and come back end of July ( around 52 days )

In 2020, if I will go out in jan and come back in March ( 70 says )

then total it will be ( 70+ 52) = 122 days approximately!

So if I apply in may 2020! Then it’s still more than 90 days to apply in may ..isn’t it ??

In this scenario you will be eligible in July 2020 sometime OR you will have to cut short your Jan 2020 trip and come back before you exceed 90 days and apply in March 2020. Once you apply and meet the requirements on the date of application, you can always travel after that again.

I would like to know is there any time limit set for you! As we know that you are eligible after 12 months of ilr for citizenships but is there any rules like must have to apply for naturalisation witching this certain period or else your ilr will be withdrawn or something !! ??

And in addition, I know the ilr holder and the citizens are eligible for same kind of facility/support/public fund except the passport. Is there any other extra benifit for citizens then ilr holder??

This two question generally comes up to my mind for along and it would be great if experts can reply.

No there is not. Many people never apply for citizenship and just stay on ilr.

Finally my outside of the uk dates are sorted and it would be great if you can help with my exact naturalisation application date please.

I was out side of uk in 2019, 1jun to 21 July ( 52 days )

In 2020, 1 feb to 22 March ( 51 days)

In MY calculation of absence in 90 days, I think I can apply for naturalisation in mid June 2020. Please let me know if I’m correct.

Correct about that time. Lets say 17th June 2020. Make sure you are not outside UK for more than 90 days between 17th June 2019 till 17th June 2020.

You are physically present in UK on 17th June 2015.

You are not outside UK for more than 450 days between 17th June 2015 to 17th June 2020.
(if you are applying on your own and qualifying period is 5 years)
