HI All,

The scenario is female, born 1977 in the USA to an American father and British mother. At 3 months of age, the parents split up and the child and Mother return to the UK.

Fast forward to 2019 and the child is being deported unless she pays £2,000 in fees for the visa application process.

This is all new to me and I'm trying to understand the technicalities of it.

She is a single parent but does work part time but cant possibly raise £2,000, therefore is extremley anxious about being sent back to the US away from her children.

I have some questions.

What exactly is it she is being asked to pay £2,000 for?
Are these not means tested at all?
Is deportation a real threat if she cant come up with the cash?

Seems very unfair that someone can spend 41 3/4 years in the UK and 3 months in the US yet cant stay here without coming up with all that money.

What is the potential deportee UK immigration history of visas held or applications made etc?

The British mother was born in the UK.

I believe no previous application has ever been made. I think contact was made by the Home office a few years ago , letter was ignored and it went away, but now back again.

She can register as British on form UKM if her mother was UK born.
