Dual citizenship for children

Post by trueindian2013 » Fri Dec 20, 2019 5:58 pm

Hi
My daughter recently became british citizen and I've applied for British passport. Question I have, can she continue to keep her Indian passport or should that be surrendered? I was told children can continue to keep their India passport until they become 18. Could you clarify?

Thanks

Not applicable when you have made a voluntary act to register her as British on form MN1. She lost her Indian citizenship the date the certificate was signed and dated.

Having the ability to hold both until age 18, when they have to choose one, only applies to children born to a British parent and Indian parent at the time of the child's birth.
