Application Help for UK Citizenship

Post by jlwk55 » Tue Jan 07, 2020 12:35 pm

Hello all,

I am currently trying to apply for UK citizenship online, there are a couple of things in the application that I am not sure of:

1.
In the section where it asked "Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?" - So I am currently on ILR, and was on several Tier 2 Visas prior to the ILR

In the following sub-section it then asked for the actual immigration details and are as follows:
a) "Name in which you made the application?" I assume this is asking for the applicant name, and not asking for the type of application like ILR or Tier 2 Visa
b) "Date of application, if known" What date are they asking for? The actual issue date of the BRP? or the date when application was submitted for my ILR and Tier 2 visas?
c) "Enter your reference number if known" is this referring to the BRP number? Or would this be some other application reference number?

2. Under documents for proof of living in the UK, it says "If you are a Non-EEA National, you need to include your passport to prove you have lived in the UK for the relevant 3- or 5-year period."

Does it mean they will hold my passport until application is successful? (up to 6 months?)

Would appreciate any advice on this and would be great if someone here can share their online application experience,

Kind regards,

J

whatever reference you have available - note the "if known" stipulation

2. Under documents for proof of living in the UK, it says "If you are a Non-EEA National, you need to include your passport to prove you have lived in the UK for the relevant 3- or 5-year period."

Does it mean they will hold my passport until application is successful? (up to 6 months?) NO - passports and all other documents are scanned/uploaded into the online system and you keep all your documents.

Would appreciate any advice on this and would be great if someone here can share their online application experience,
All UK based applicants now have to use online - and everything is based on the requirements guidance.
Kind regards,

J

Omg thank you for this! I was just getting ready and filling out the online application form and i put “no” to this question! But realised now actually i had made application previously as i was on tier2 visas also previously before my ILR.

Does it matter if i say “no” or i should say “yes” to this question?? Thanks

Proof of Identity/ Travel History on UKVCAS Sopra Steria

Post by jlwk55 » Thu Jan 09, 2020 3:10 pm

Hello guys,

I am in the middle of uploading documents for my naturalisation onto Sopra Steria UKVCAS, and in regards with the upload section under Proof of Identity/ Travel History, what do you guys upload against this?

Do you upload each and every single passport stamp for the past 5 years? That feels a bit much,

Kind regards,

J

Proof of identity is your passport - scan all pages including stamps - those are also your proof of residence.
Travel History is just listed, i.e. trips out of the UK (excluding travel days i.e. outbound/inbound). You don't have to prove each trip.

Naturalisation Referee Declaration Forms

Post by jlwk55 » Fri Jan 17, 2020 6:31 pm

Hello all,

In regards with the referee declaration forms, i have scanned and uploaded it online prior to my biometric appointment with Sopra Steria.

During my appointment itself, they just checked the uploaded documents online and didn't actually take the referee declaration forms from me. Is this correct?? Or did they make a mistake?

Kind regards,

J

They don't take originals!! That's the whole point of scanning them in.

Thanks, it was confusing because the declaration form give out instruction like, "please write the applicants name and date of birth behind the passport photo and glue it in this blank area".

The instructions on the forms makes me think they'll take the paper copy.

Why bother if they don't take the actual form? You can basically doodle a stickman behind the passport photo and no one will find out

But thanks anyway

That was an instruction from when it was still paper forms. Guidance hasn't been updated completely for online apps because some people still apply in certain cases on the paper form.
