citizenship for child

Post by irenuccia » Sun Jan 26, 2020 3:09 pm

Good afternoon. I need to ask a few question about citizenship for my kid.
Me,my husband and my son have a Settled Status from May 2019. I know I have to wait 12 months before apply for a citizenship but I would like to know if I have to wait for my son as well. I ask because I have his italian passport expires soon.
He was born in Italy so I read on website who is born abroad with no British parent can apply for a kid only if one parent apply and the other has the Settled status.
it's true? i can't find any concrete information or I am really bad with internet!
thank you in advance!

He can only apply when either parent also applies.

I read on internet is a discretion to the Home Office to consider British the children if they live on English territory.
I was hoping if I sent more documentation it would accept it.

Any application for a child born abroad is at discretion. It also states they qualify when either parent is applying and the other has settled status.

There is no shortcut route for children born abroad to non British parents.

A valid passport is also not required. It really is only a couple of months, why risk a refusal and losing your money applying now when the child doesn't qualify. Yes, you lose the whole £1023 fee you pay if an application is refused.

You need English B1 test and the life in the UK test. Both tests are mandatory.
