ILR Extension

Post by pns » Mon Mar 02, 2020 5:57 pm

Hi Guys,

I have my ILR issued in 2017. The BRP card says the validity is until 2024. Does it mean, I need to apply for a renewal card in 2024? also, Do I have to pay the fee to do so?

I have not applied for citizenship yet but trying to understand the cons of being on ilr forever.

I did not have any pressing need to get my citizenship that's the reason why I haven;t got my UK passport yet.

You simply renew the card, pay a minimal fee (roughly £60), similar to the way a driver's license is renewed.

Thanks CR001.

Do i need to submit any documentation, etc (like what was needed for initial ILR application)? I want to avoid the documentation (& the massive fees) at any cost.

if it is going to be anything harder/costlier, then I will think about getting UK passport immediately.

You are not applying for the whole ilr process again. You are simply renewing the card.

Evidence of residence will be required usually to ensure you have not been absent for 2 or more years which means ilr is lost.
