UK Tier 2 Visa Extension - return home?

Hi all,

I've been with my company for 3 years on tier 2 visa and it's about to expire around August/September.

I understand that to apply for an extension, the earliest date for applications is 60 days before the expiry date. As I live all the way in the southern hemisphere, I would like to know if I need to book a return ticket back home for the visa process?

Any information on the timeline and process will be helpful.

You don't apply from home country for extensions.

You apply for an extension within the UK with an unrestricted CoS.

No.

This applies if you leave the UK. You are then subject to 12 months cooling off period before you can apply for tier 2 general again outside the UK. Cooling off period does NOT apply to visa extensions within the UK
