Hi all. I'm about to submit my application for ILR and just need a sanity check on a couple of points:
Primary concern is around benefits.
My partner receives Universal Credit, which my income goes towards adjusting. To do this, they asked me to apply, even though I told them I knew I wasn't eligible. My suspicion was that it was the easiest way for them to set me up with an online account with which I can post changes in circumstance etc.
I received a letter stating that I was not eligible (obviously).
I'm hoping that the fact that this does not go into my/our joint bank account should help with this...
Before UC, my partner claimed child tax credits. Similarly, my income was used to adjust her entitlement.
We wrote them a letter stating that I was ineligible, but the documents they returned showed us as claiming as a couple. However, the letters were only ever addressed to her.
Are they likely to go this deep and question/deny, or am I likely overthinking?
My other questions are:
- Rather than forcing my parents to hunt out birth certs, I ordered new ones from GRO UK and NZ. Are these likely to be of an appropriate standard for this application? They do state "Certified to be a true copy of the above particulars included in an entry recorded in this office" (NZ) and "Certified to be a true copy of an entry in the certified copy of a Register of Births in the District above mentioned" (UK).
- I'm sure I read elsewhere here that you can upload online banking statements as proof of finances, but the note on the form states "Note, we do not accept internet or cashpoint statements as evidence of finance". Should I maybe just go to the bank for these to avoid confusion?
