Child first UK Passport

Hi

I am a British Citizen and my wife has an ILR in UK. My child was born in UK a couple of months back and we have his birth certificate from our local council. I have completed the online application, it didn't ask for any grand parents details while filling up the application but in the documents needed section, it is asking for both paternal and maternal grandparents documents. My friend has even completed the online verification already. I have Naturalisation certificate, my marriage certificate and my childs birth certificate from UK.
Is it mandatory to send Grand parents documents for British passport for my child?
