Children born in UK - ILR or straight to citizenship

Post by lozzyj » Mon Apr 20, 2020 6:05 pm

Hi there,

My husband, eldest daughter and I are applying for ILR following 6 years on a Sole Representative visa. 2 of our 3 children were born here in UK in the last 6 years.

The little two can get citizenship as soon as a parent has ILR, however, I'm unsure of whether we can leave them off our ILR application?

So do we:
A) all five of us apply for ILR, then citizenship 12 months later
B) Mum, Dad + daughter born outside UK apply for ILR ... then when it is granted, daughters born IN UK apply for citizenship
C) something else?

Thank you so much! Applying for all 5 to get ILR seems so expensive and unnecessary if only the 3 of us NEED it.

Thank you ... I had hoped so, but I was worried that that leaves the younger two 'invalid' ... is there any information or clause that you know of in HO documentation that shows that this is the right thing to do?
Thanks!

What do you mean by "invalid"?

A UK born child has an entitlement to register as British (can't be refused) under section 1(3) of the nationality act and do NOT need a valid visa or ilr to apply for citizenship.
