Dear all,
Applied for first British passport till today no news from HMPO Liverpool. Phoned them bit ago two times but got different answers. One adviser told me they just finished Level 2 security check but another adviser told me nothing showing anything checking process like application is being processed.
Applied on 6th of March. What does it mean level 2 security check?
Thanks in advance.

Don't think anyone here would know - sounds like internal process speak.
I guess processing may be slow due to current circumstances.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

I call them yesterday because my wife is applying for her first Bristish passport. They said that it might be faster than normal because there are less applications currently. Who knows.

Looking at the Twitter handle for the HM Passport Office, it seems that there are no changes to their standard processing timelines, hope that is indeed the case given current circumstances.

Dear all,
I applied for my passport 06.03.2020. Document processing from 10.03.2020. Still waiting for passport interview invitations. Is anyone waiting for passport interview or update around same timeline like mine? I sent my application in Liverpool HMPO.
Thanks in advance.

Interviews are rarely conducted these days, has been the case for well over a year.

Hi - yeah, I did get mine on April 6th. Called them multiple times and requested them for an urgent issue of passport and finally one day I caught hold of one person there, who helped me process my application and issue the passport within a week. Got lucky there!

I wonder if anyone else has had to wait long for an application made to HMPO Liverpool.
I sent my daughters passport renewal application (from Singapore). FedEx shows delivered on 23.09.2020. HMPO says delivered on 28.09.2020 and processing on 29.09.2020.
Three weeks later and I’ve not heard anything further. It’s a straightforward renewal. I know Liverpool has restrictions in place for Covid but HMPO is still open I believe and operating.

It’s case by case basis. I applied for a First British Passport on the 5th of October, I received it today on the 21st of October, quite fast.
Depending on the individual they might take time, even if it’s a renewal. They do make checks.

Certainly I appreciate that it’s on a case by case basis. That’s in fact why I asked if anyone had a similar experience and can share their outcome.

This topic is mostly for those who have applied for first British passport within the UK.
It is a published fact that passports from abroad take longer than applications within the UK.

Wasn’t aware that this was an established “fact” especially since I did my previous renewals from the UK.
If possible I’d be grateful if one could point me to such “published” content.

Renewal of a child passport generally takes 8 to 10 weeks under normal circumstances.
Currently there are delays and a backlog at HMPO.

My application for the first British passport after naturalisation has been approved on the 14th October 2020. Looking at the British Passport processing timeline, 99% of the people have had their passport sent to them the next day or after the weekend. Do you think I should be worried that they've lost my documents?
