ILR before applying for BC

Hi guys, a quick question. My husband is a Jamaican citizen, his 2nd 2.5 year visa is due to expire next year. I am a British Citizen does he need to apply for ILR and then straight away once been granted apply for Citizenship or can he just apply for Citizenship without getting ILR? Thank you, all confusing 🤦🏻‍♀️

He needs ILR first. ILR is mandatory before anyone can apply for British citizenship.

Great thank you, I thought he would but just wanted to clarify. Next year is going to be an expensive year 🙈
