Partner of EEA national with Afghan passport - when eligible for British passport?

Hi ,

If a person has an Afghan passport,
Has lived in the UK more than 5 years,
Has had British Residence Card for 5 years,
Has Indefinite Leave to remain in the UK (settled status).
And is a partner of EEA national who has EEA nationality,

Can he/she apply for a British passport?

Does it have to be 1 year after the settled status?

No - apply for naturalisation first - once person is British (after the ceremony) they can apply for a passport.

Does it have to be 1 year after the settled status?

Yes - unless person is married to a British citizen (not applicable in your case).
