registration of a child under 18 as a British citizen

Post by Sandy2017 » Sun Jul 26, 2020 8:53 pm

Hi,
I entered UK with tier 2 ICT visa in Sept 2010 so applying for ILR soon for myself and wife.
my current visa will expire in Oct 2021.
My son was born in UK on January 2013 and living here continuously for more then 7 years.

What i thought is, I will do ILR for myself and wife and as soon as one of us get ILR i will apply for citizenship directly for my child.
Is that correct or I need to apply ILR for my child also with our applications?

if yes how since he has not completed his 10 years yet since he is 7+ year old.

please help?

As far as I know, if the child was born in the UK he/she doesn't need a visa or ILR.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

A UK born child does NOT require ILR to register as British. A UK born child has an entitlement to register as British knee either parent is granted ilr.

Thanks for your help :D :D

one more question:
Until i get ILR approval, have my existing visa ICT restrictions in place?

Any idea when super priority service for Long Residence application can start?

Your tier 2 ICT visa conditions remain in place until your ilr is granted, which means you can only work for your ICT sponsor.

Members on the forum couldn't and wouldn't possibly know when super priority will be available again.

Please also ask your ilr questions in a new topic in the ilr sub forum. They are not relevant to a topic about citizenship in the British citizenship sub forum
