Effect on British citizenship / passport for those staying long term in India (OCI card holders)

Post by RailMan » Fri Aug 07, 2020 3:08 pm

Dear Mods / Senior Members

Background
My Son (6 years old) , My Wife and Myself - we all hold British passport along with OCI cards.
My wife and son have already shifted to India for good and I intend to join them as well in near future (off course when the Corona situation eases up)

Question
Besides the fact that until my son reaches the age of 20 every time his British passport gets renewed , we will need to get his OCI re-registered against the new passport number : Can you please shed some light if long term stay in India (for OCI card holders) can have any detrimental impact on British citizenship of such individuals in any shape or form ?

I have been hearing conflicting views from people - some say long term stay in India will impact British citizenship and some say it won't.

Please can you take a look at this query and confirm ? It will be a great help.

regards.
