EU Family permit for spouse and a parent

Post by UKFrance1 » Sun Aug 30, 2020 3:57 pm

Hi all,

I would really appreciate if you can help me with the following questions:
I have applied for EU settlement scheme family permit for both my parent and my spouse. They both have been approved and they are travelling to the UK in the next few days. I would like them both to live with me here in the UK. I have checked online and I am meeting all the criteria to sponsor them both.
1. Some websites say that my spouse and parent need to collect biometric ID within 10 days from their arriving to the UK, other websites say they don’t need to do it since EU FP do not require it. Which is correct?
2. Will they get biometric ID card or will they need to apply for it?
3. I was wondering what the next step is once they are here in the UK?
4. Will they get NI automatically or do they need to apply for NI?
5. Once they are in the UK, can they apply for pre-settle scheme for them since I have an EU settle status already?
6. Will pre-settle status grant them a full right to live and work in the UK and is it a time limited?

Thanks a lot in advance.

One more question please.
will they be able to use the NHS during this 6 months EU settlement family permit?
My wife is pregnant and we need to follow up with the GP but we were wondering if this will be free or we will have to use the private hospitals?
I am an EU with a full time job and I have the full settled status, will this grant my wife the ability to use the NHS for her pregnancy during the 6month visa? (during this 6 months visa we will apply for a full pre-settle status for her because she will live with me here in the UK.

As your family applied for EU settlement scheme family permit (known as EEA family permit under EU rules), they will not be required to pick up a biometric residence card upon arrival in the UK. That is for spouses under UK immigration rules.
When your wife and parent arrive, they can apply for national insurance number with the family permit they have in their passport. It is not issued automatically. They will also need to apply for pre-settled status and be granted 5 years biometric card. then apply for settled status after 5 years of living here.
As EEA family members, they are allowed to work, use the NHS without having to pay and claim some benefits (mind you currently people on pre-settled status don't qualify on certain benefits). You as the EU national with settled status can apply for benefits with your wife.

Yes, they always check previous application information. You can explain yes.
