Tier 2 dependent visa issue date

Hi everyone

My wife had applied for her Tier 2 PBS dependent visa extension on 7 June 2020. Her visa was expiring on 8 Aug 2020, however due to corona virus and late roll out of the IDV app, a decision was made on her application 18 Sep 2020.

Her new BRP has just been delivered to us and it’s validity is from 18 Sep 2020 to 18 Sep 2023. This is a 5 week gap between the expiry of her last BRP and the start of here new one.

Is this a concern? When we apply for the ILR after 5 year residency, how will we explain what her visa status was between 9 Aug 2020 till 17 Sep 2020 whilst we were waiting for a decision on her application? Will this 5 week gap between the two BRPs reset the 5 year residency clock to ILR?

Is this a concern?

No. It is always from date of decision and is never "tagged onto" the last expiry date.

There is no gap. She has section 3C protection, meaning her existing visa conditions continued when her visa expired as she had a pending application.

Will this 5 week gap between the two BRPs reset the 5 year residency clock to ILR?
