PBS Dependant Extension - IHS Fees Query

Post by avaismohammad » Wed Oct 21, 2020 7:52 pm

Hi All,
Slightly concerned on how should I handle my scenario.

I am applying for my Wife's PBS Dependant extension visa (my last CoS was <3 years and now I have ILR) which will expire just 2 months before her ILR eligibility.
Now, I dont mind extending again for 2 months when the time comes (<3 years, paying the upto 3 years fee) but what about IHS then? do I pay £625 * 3 for a mere 2 month extension or I can put the visa expiry as under 6 months while paying IHS?

Any help appreciated.

Many Thanks
Avais

This is an area where we hope some improvements come in from HO because as far as I know and stand to be corrected an learn from others, you can not reduce the amount of IHS payment or duration of visa extension, it goes for the full period.

Thanks for the reply,
I really hope someone says otherwise (not to prove you wrong mate) for my peace of mind, it does not affect me currently but I am gonna lose some sleep over this when the time comes haha. Its so absurd to be charged such a ridiculous amount only for 2 months!

It is not a problem when I am wrong, it shows others got more knowledge and becomes a problem if I don't learn from such persons or take correction.
Yes, it is diabolical having to shell out huge amounts for uneeded periods of extension.

Hi CR001,
First PBS Dept. visa Issued - Jan 29, 2019 to Nov 24, 2020. (Tier 2 expiry was 24th Nov thats why shorter duration)
PBS Dept. Extension 1 - Nov 24, 2020 to Nov 24, 2023 (I am applying soon, now I am on ILR and my last CoS was <3 years so I can apply for under three years only?)
PBS Dept. Extension 2 - Nov 24, 2023 to Jan 29, 2025 (hypothetical, < 3 years)
But you see, from Nov 24, 2023 + 2 months my wife is eligible for ILR, so I will be paying fees for Visa Extension 2 + crazy IHS fees only for 2 months

Hope it makes sense

Hi CR001, sorry for ranting about the dates in my reply above, to answer your question, her initial visa was issued on 29 Jan 2019.
