Register as British Citizen for UK born PBS Dependent (Tier 2)

Post by Ibraro » Sun Sep 20, 2020 11:58 pm

Hi All,

I need some information regarding ‘Register as British Citizen’ process for my UK born child (PBS dependent).

Please note that Myself, Spouse and a child (born outside UK) got ILR last week and now I need to apply for ‘Register as British Citizen’ for the other child who born in the UK (when I was on Tier 2), he has currently PBS dependent visa that will expire next year (June 2021).

I’ve two questions if you guys can help me please

- Can my child (born in UK) will be able travel out of country with us while his application for ‘Register As British Citizen’ will be in process?

- As I (the main applicant) now got ILR, will my child current PBS dependent (UK born) visa remain valid till its expiry (I.e. June 2021)? Will he be able to travel on that visa? Just thinking in case on safe side if I want apply for him as ‘Register As British Citizen’ later ?

Kind Regards
Ibraro

Yes. However, register ASAP as it takes time to process.

Thanks @Viny for your kind reply.

That makes it clear, I was worried about our travels plans that by submitting application for him to get ‘Register as British Citizen’ should not invalidate his existing BPS dependent visa.

So that means while his application for ‘Register as British Citizenship’ is in process, he can travel out of the UK and come back on his PBS dependent visa that is valid till next June.

I’ve one more question related to my above query regarding PBS dependent’s application for ‘Register As British Citizen’

What if my son’s application for ‘Register as British Citizen’ will get successful while we are away from the UK, will he be allowed to enter the UK on his BRP card (PBS Dependent expiring in June 2020)?

Sorry I’m just trying to crystal clear .... because I’m worried his existing BRP card shouldn’t suddenly become invalid (due to success of citizenship application) while we will be away from the country, and how will he enter back in the UK with the invalid BRP card.

I think it should be okay. It’s unlikely that the Stupid would see that his BRP is invalid before its expiry date. If the Immigration Officer is aware that he’s British, then they could hardly refuse him entry.

Else, apply for a British Passport or a CoE-RoA.

MN1 - Child Registration Certificate Delivery

Post by Ibraro » Sun Oct 25, 2020 10:54 am

Hi All,

I would like to understand, how the Child British Registeration Certificate get delivered as a result of successful MN1 application? Generally which courier service is used? Do the HomeOffice deliver it through TNT (same as for BRP cards and passport) or Royal Mail tracker delivery?

I’ve noticed that many people mentioned on the forum that they never received any approval confirmation via email and the certificate directly got delivered to their home address. So I just want to understand which courier service is used by the home office so I can contact them to check if they have anything for my son.

Thanks in advance.
