I have a issue with my Life in UK certificate. Can I have your advice plz

Post by repsol » Mon Feb 01, 2021 2:43 pm

In 2019, I passed the Live in UK test, I received a certificate and then somehow later I noticed that where in the First Name column there is a Last Name and in the last name column there is my name (vice versa). I called the relevant authorities by phone and they was assured me that there is not a big deal this and when I apply for citizenship it can not be a reason for refusal.
Now I would like to know maybe someone had the same case in past. My question is regarding all this, in which I did not find an clear answer on the web. Can this really be a reason (vice versa) for refusing to grant me citizenship of UK or not? And what should I do in this case? Thank you.

If it was accepted at ILR stage, no issues for Naturalisation. Just submit the same.

PS: If you were exempt for LIUK at ILR stage, just add a cover letter and submit the same. Should be okay.
Personal opinion only, not to be mistaken for legal advice. Please DO NOT PM me for immigration advice. Love for All, Hatred for None.

As a European I already got settle status which does not require this certificate.

No issue at all. Many had this vice versa and experienced no problems.

I intend to apply for naturalization process in next months based on my settled status. I don't need to do nothing about this misunderstanding? Any cover letter or...?

As long as the name, whichever way round it is, matches your passport, there is no issue.

About referees professional standing

Post by repsol » Mon Feb 01, 2021 4:24 pm

Soon I intend to start my naturalization process. In guidance I have found that I need 2 referees and one should be from professional standing. In list of profession I found Accountant. I know for many years a person which is Account assistant and I would like to know if is it alright person or not to be my referee from professional standing. Thank you.

Referee with professional standing means someone who is a member of the professional body for a particular field, like accounting, law, etc. If person is a member of CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, etc, then s/he counts as a professional. Otherwise you will need to find another referee.
