Bringing my GF to UK

Post by Mogzilla » Sun Jan 31, 2021 8:54 pm

Hi everyone

Just moved back to the UK from Oz for work, my girlfriend (Japanese) is still in Australia at the moment as she wants to get a Permanent Resident visa, once shes gets it she wants to come here to be with me.

We've been together since April 2018, living together, etc. Can someone help with which visas I should be looking at, and if anyone can recommend any decent lawyers that would be great too! From what I've read the spouse visa takes approx 12 weeks?

Thanks everyone if you need more info i'll give you everything you need cheers

Do you have proof of living together in a relationship akin to marriage (joint finances, joint mortgages, etc) for the past 2 years at least?

Do you earn more than £18,600 per annum and if so, is your work salaried or otherwise? If salaried, you will need to demonstrate an income higher than £18,600 for at least 6 months.

Might be easier, if she qualifies, to apply for the tier 5 youth mobility visa and then switch to a spouse visa if you marry in the UK. Tier 5 ayMS has less requirements. It is also processed quicker than a spouse/unmarried partne visa.
