New Job - CoS - Process - Questions

Post by pranamcs » Sat Feb 13, 2021 8:48 am

Hello,

Greetings.

Apologize if these questions are dumb and have been answered. But I keep hearing new things about immigration process everyday. So, I thought I will ask it anyway.

I am currently on a Tier 2 General Visa with company X since Aug 2016. It expires in Aug 2021.

I got a job from company Y which will sponsor my new CoS which means that I fall under the ''transfer employer'' category. Company Y tells me that I can apply for Tier 2 General visa (now called skilled worker) 1 year extension. During that 1 year I have to apply for ILR. Does this sound right ?

I read that the RLMT is not used anymore. Does this mean the visa processing can be started immediately ?

During the visa application process do I need to submit my passport for processing ?

If the answer to the above question is No, can I travel outside UK during the visa processing ?

Should I resign from company X once the visa is approved or only when the BRP arrives ?

Related to the question above is another question. Since they already have my fingerprints do I need to go through fingerprinting process again ?

Any guidance/recent experience on how long does the visa transfer processing take ?

Can I expedite the process by paying an extra fee ?

Your answers will help me a lot. Thank you in advance.

Regards
Pranam

It is a new visa with a new employer you apply for. You simply apply for ilr when you qualify. Ilr is not a mandatory application.
I read that the RLMT is not used anymore. Does this mean the visa processing can be started immediately ?
Yes, if you have a cos and meet all the requirements.
During the visa application process do I need to submit my passport for processing ?
No. Everything is uploaded digitally.
If the answer to the above question is No, can I travel outside UK during the visa processing ?
No, you cannot travel out of the UK while you have an application pending. It will be considered withdrawn if you travel.
Should I resign from company X once the visa is approved or only when the BRP arrives ?
Either.
Related to the question above is another question. Since they already have my fingerprints do I need to go through fingerprinting process again ?
You have to enroll biomterics again. It is required for every application you make.
Any guidance/recent experience on how long does the visa transfer processing take ?
It is not a "transfer". It is a new visa application with a new employer.
Can I expedite the process by paying an extra fee ?
Yes. Super priority and priority service is not a guaranteed service though.
