Registration of a child under 18 as a British citizen MN1

Post by PWALL » Sun Feb 21, 2021 8:34 pm

Dear Team and Cullinan,
Hope you are well safe and keeping well. I need your advise on the following application.
I am filling the ‘’registration of a child under 18 as a British citizen’’ application for my daughter who is nearly 1.5 years old and had a BRP card expires in May2021. She is currently holding a Pakistani passport and BRP card because we need to travel in 2019.
Brief history
Parents Previous Category: 200K Tier 1 -ENTRE- Migrant
Parents received ILR status: Dec 2020
Child born in UK Oct 2019 before the parents ILR status
Current child passport: Pakistani
Current BRP card of child: expiry date: 05/2021 under Tier1 200K category

Questions are –
1-Did she qualify for the MN1 registration?
2-Have you had settlement in the UK? Should I say NO or YES
3-Choose which category to apply under. You are a child under 18 and:
You were born in the UK One or both your parents are settled in the UK
Is that the above category is right ?
4-Is it necessary to have the one referee to be professional engagement?
Can this not be two families and friend’s members etc. can I take referee from my local mosque/ masjid leader or any doctor who is in my professional contact not particularly associate with her. Please advise?
5-Are you relying on your parent's permanent residence (either as an EEA National or the family member of an EEA National) as evidence of their settled status in the United Kingdom?
Should I say YES or No
6-Proof of Parental responsibilities - shall the BRP cards/ passport suffice the purpose.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Best Regards / Asif

Also you will need a consent letter:
Mother’s consent:

I (Full name of mother) consent to this application for the registration of (Full name of child) as a British Citizen.

Signature:
Date:
Address:
Mobile:
Email:

Father’s consent:

I (Full name of father) consent to this application for the registration of (Full name of child) as a British Citizen.

Signature:
Date:

Email:
INCASE IF you struggle to find a professional referee who has engaged with your child, add a cover letter and follow as stated below. HO is not strict when it comes to referees for young children only 1.5yrs old. Given corona, its more understandable that parents can not be chasing doctors/health visitors etc.
For child applicants at least one of the referees must be a person who has dealt with the child in a professional role such as a teacher, doctor, health visitor or social worker. Where a child cannot provide a referee who has dealt with them in a professional capacity and has provided documents to show that they have attempted to do so, you can accept 2 referees who meet the criteria for referees on adult applications.
