UK Spouse Visa, cash savings & bank statements

Post by Roy500 » Mon Feb 22, 2021 12:54 am

Hi, my wife will be applying for a UK Spouse Visa asap. We will meet the financial requirements using £62500 that we have in cash savings in the UK, the full amount will have been in my bank account for 6 months on the 5th May 2021 so we intend on paying the online fee and completing the application on 7th May 2021.

My bank statements are issued on the 28th of each month, for easy reading let's say £62500 was deposited in my bank on the 5th November 2020 that means the statement dated 28th Oct - 28th Nov would be the first submitted and the statement dated 28th April - 28th May 2021 would be the last submitted as evidence to meet the financial requirements, 7 in total.

Is that going to be a problem ? because the last statement will be dated 28th May which is obviously after our intended date of application, but my funds will have cleared the required 6 month period on the 7th May 2021 when we intend to apply. Does it matter that the last bank statement will be dated after the date of application in my case ?

Any help, advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

The supporting document must be dated on or before the online application date.

Hi, CR001 and thanks for your helpful reply. So you are saying that even though the funds will have been in bank for 6 months before our intended date of application, my 7th bank statement which is from the 28th April - 28th May will not be accepted because it's dated on the 28th May 2021 which is after our intended date application ?

If I'm reading Appendix FM SE correctly I think it says that a letter from a bank or building society could be used instead of statements as evidence to meet the financial requirements providing the letter has all the required information. Is that correct ?

If i get a letter from my bank showing all transactions from the 5th November - 7th May 2021 which shows £62500 maintained for over 6 months and then completed the online application the 7th May, would this letter then be accepted as evidence to meet the financial requirements in my case applying with cash savings alone ?

Again any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading.

Hi, for a UK Spouse Visa does anybody know if letter from the bank showing a balance of £62,500 maintained for 6 months can be used as evidence instead of 6 months bank statements to meet the financial requirements using cash savings alone ?

Any replies or help would be greatly appreciated.
