Laura Akpowowo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 5:11 pmThank you for your time. In Nigeria, an adult cannot register his or her birth. You can only get an age declaration. Then again, I know of someone who has a laminated certificate. Can he use that for himself? We read that they don't accept laminated birth certificate. Thank you!Krotoa wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 10:01 amIn South Africa we can complete a late registration of birth and obtain a birth certificate that way. Not sure what the rules are in Nigeria. Would it be possible to register your birth now?Laura Akpowowo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 9:45 amThanks krotoa. Can anything be done if it's missing and the place of registration doesn't have any other evidence that it was registered? Thanks.
Also, the form requests a birth certificate naming your biological father that was issued within one year of your birth. If you don't have that, you will need additional documentation such as I had to provide.
When did you apply?potassiumfeldspar wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 11:35 pmHello all who have had success with their UKF applications while being outside the UK,
I am currently in the process of applying for my UK citizenship (UKF) while studying in the USA (and during a pandemic...). I have a couple of questions about the process that I would be really grateful if anyone could answer:
1. What is the process like for providing the biometrics information? Is it done in person or online?
2. How long did it take for your passport/ ID documents to be returned?
3. How has COVID-19 affected the procedure for your application (for those who have applied within the last year)?
Thank you very much for your help.
You are free to move to the UK. Your family will need visas and must meet the requirements for a visa before they can move with you if they are non British. You can only sponsor a spouse/partner and children, not any extended family.Laura Akpowowo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:48 amHello Fam. I want to express my gratitude to everyone on this forum and especially to those who had taken time to answer my questions. Its with great joy that I announce to the house that my application has been approved and I have been booked for a citizenship ceremony next week.
I still do have a question though. What are my benefits as a British citizen? Is it possible for me to relocate to the UK with my family?
Thanks for your responses!
Please post your further question in the sub forum link below, IE start your own new topic with your queries. These family visa questions are not relevant to the ukf topic.Laura Akpowowo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 11:08 amThank you CR001 for your prompt response. Can you give me a further link? I thought habitual residence test was for 2yrs or more. Also pls can you kindly give me the name of the visa my family would have to come with?
Thanks.
I am American also. I submitted my Biometrics in April 2021, and received by approval for citizenship on May 19th. I'm currently waiting for my ceremony invitation letter. It's been almost 6 months. I emailed citizenship.support@homeoffice.gov.uk in September and they replied that I should be contacted by the FCI (not sure what that stands for) in regards to my ceremony. FYI, I've found that it takes about a month for a reply to any emails I've sent. I'm hoping to hear something soon.mandalynn wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 3:34 pmHi everyone,
So I'm American, and I applied for British Citizenship (submitting everything) on Dec. 16, 2020. I have yet to hear a response, and am a bit anxious as I've had zero contact since then. Only right after I submitted my biometrics, was I told that it was submitted successfully -- which is great.
I'm just curious if anyone else has an idea on what the wait time is like?
I understand with covid it can take longer than 6 months, but was curious what anyone else might have to say.
Thank you!

I have done the enquiry form on March 10th, will get back on here if any of my attempts amount to anything.abe89 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 7:55 pmFunny reading this as I’ve spent the past two days taking all the same measures and to no avail either. The end of my 6 month service standard was a couple of days ago and the last I’ve heard from them was 10 January with their “still in queue” stock response. That customer service number they supply is total rubbish.. rather automated voice that leads you to a dead end or humans who don’t have any information to provide on specific enquiries. Tried asking one guy a general question to which he let out a huge sigh and said “you can try asking me a question”.. but ended up hanging up on me while I was talking!! Abhorrent.
Was hoping to facilitate my personal documents being sent back as my partner and I have a flight into the U.K. beginning of May but starting to think we’ll have to reschedule.
If it helps (million dollar question…) there’s a PDF of an enquiry form you fill out attached to the bottom of the Nationality Enquiries automated email which instructs you to send it to Further Nationality Enquiries.
Might have another go at it tomorrow so will keep you posted in the event of a breakthrough… please do the same!
