Switching employer from Tier 2 Gen to new Skilled visa

Post by mots_11 » Wed Aug 11, 2021 9:02 pm

Hi All,

So I am currently on Tier 2 (Gen) visa. I was offered a job recently, resigned from my previous job, and based on the new CoS I applied for my visa under the New Skilled Category. Both my current and the new employer come under Highly Trusted Sponsors. I have applied for my visa under the standard route. The only issue is my date of joining is in a week's time and I am feeling worried because what if my visa takes more time to come through. In the past, all my Tier 2 visa applications have been really smooth and quick even under the standard route. But this time there is an element of SOC code change and I am wondering whether that usually takes more time. There is still time for the mandated 8 week period under the standard route, so the reasonable thing is to wait. But I am also aware I need to take up the role soon.

I was pointed to this link https://www.gov.uk/employee-immigration ... ent-status. I am wondering can the potential employer by using this link get some reasonable info about my immigration status and proceed with some of the basic formalities related to any new employment. I am more keen on knowing can I begin work on the due date? If any of you can point me to any helpful resources, I'd be very grateful. Thank you so much in advance!

1. Do not tag your questions onto other members topics.

2. You can only start working for your new sponsor when your new visa has been approved and brp card received.
