Visa Extension Query

Hi all,

I am on a T2 General dependent visa and its getting expired on 3rd Dec 2021 and I will be going for an extension for 2 years. My query is, if I get my visa extended in next month lets say 13/09/2021, will I get 2 years from the visa approval date or 2 years from 3rd Dec 2021. Reason for the ask is, if I get 2 yrs from the date of approval then I need to got for 2 more months extension to get my ILR.

Can anyone suggest how this extension dates works.

What is the immigration status of the main tier 2 visa holder?

If the main tier 2 visa holder now holds ILR, then your extension will be for 3 years. You can't choose to apply for less validity.

New visa starts from date of approval. The start date is not tagged onto your current expiry date.
