New born Baby

Post by Olaola2088 » Fri Aug 20, 2021 7:24 pm

Hello all,

I wonder if you could please assist me with my enquiry. I currently hold an Indefinite Leave to Remain and have had this since 2015.

I've just had a little daughter who was born in June 2021 and we've only just manged to sort out her birth certificate today due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic.

I would like to know how to proceed with her application for registration as a British Citizen or does she automatically qualify to apply for British Passport?

I'm really confused as to how to proceed with our little baby application for British citizenship and would very much appreciate your guidance with this. I would like to know what to do next and what form/s do i need to complete.

Please note her mother is currently on spouse visa and will qualify for Indefinite leave in about two years time.

Many thanks in advance.

If the child was born in the UK, apply for a british passport directly as the child is automatically British if born in the UK to a parent who holds ILR

Hi CR001,

Many thanks for your quick response, much appreciated. This is good news, thank you.

Yes, the father hold an ILR but the mother is still on spouse visa.

In that case we'll just apply for her British Passport.

Thank you.
