Jeez man.. who da funk reads your ultra long wishy washy posts? Pls keep it shortFlatcap_Julius wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 11:36 am"Julius. Since you wrote this..., The fact remains that you only put in your FBR application 3 months ago so, even before Brexit or Covid, would still have had at least 12 months waiting in the queue. Yet you've taken up residence here, filling every page with posts, most of which are your own campaign and don't actually provide any assistance or information to users with the FBR application process. With regards to your campaign to put pressure on the Irish Government to allocate more resource to FBR processing, I think most of us realise it's just naïve. Like you, I listened to the RTE radio phone-in show but what I heard were lots of frustrated Irish citizens complaining about the problems they are having with the processing of their passport applications or renewals. FBR was not mentioned once. There is no political pressure from Irish voters over FBR because it is of negligible importance to them, unlike the processing of their own passports.
I'm sure that, regardless of what I or anyone else says, you are going to spend the next 2 years filling these pages with your abstract thoughts. So can I make one small request:...."
I can absolutely cut them short, and take this point, and some others, on board. That said, I do not appreciate the tone of your post which manages to be both condescending and patronising at the same time. When I joined this forum several weeks ago I was bordering on the hysterical, and yes, probably naive on certain points. Thanks to the people on this forum and also to my own enquiries I have learnt a lot about the FBR process and the DFA's modus operandi. Having been to Dublin, visited their offices and seen first-hand what is happening in Ireland has crystallised certain things, thereby bringing my vision more sharply into focus. Far from naive and abstract, I probably see things about as clearly as anyone can with the information currently available - much of which was not easily come by. I will not list all the things I have done to inform, assist and encourage people, as the posts are there and speak for themselves. IF I were in it only for myself I would not have bothered to share these. Some of the things I have done and the questions I have asked have not even been done by the people whose rightful job it is to do them! FBR is a thorny wood for many and each applicant has their reasons for applying, and I have mine. I understand and accept that I will have to wait some considerable time, and rightly so given how long others have been waiting and also given their more pressing circumstances in some cases. I do not need reminding as to when I applied - I am perfectly aware of this, thank you. Though somewhat resigned to waiting, this does not mean that we cannot question certain points purported by the DFA. I know from experience that politicians are not to be trusted, and although Irish politicians appear to be of a slightly higher calibre, the bar is set generally very low. If you do not wish to read what to consider to be my "naive and abstract thoughts", then you are quite free not to read them. Good day to you.
Yes that's right, I sent in a certified copy of my British passport when I applied for my Irish passport. I got the solicitor at a local law firm to certify that and also my application form. I think it cost me about £10 or something for the privilege.Luna2019 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 11:30 amfbrlad and all:
I reread it. You do need to send them a government-issued photo id, but if you live outside of Ireland, it can be a certified copy. It does not need to be the original. It's not an Irish passport that they ask for, just a state-issued photo id. It also asked for my Irish passport number. (I have an Irish passport because I was born Irish; my kids now have FBR but not passports.)
I was not asked for updated photos at any time but my kids were young adults/teens when we applied, not babies.
You sent in a birth certificate, the fbr, and consent, and that's it? Everything went through? My form does ask for government-issued photo id.

Previously a forum member collated all the available timelines periodically and posted them in a succinct manner. Below is my attempt at this, although I think they were more proficient in it than myself. Apologies for a lengthy post.
This is amazing thanks alittlelate! I'm a July 2020 applicant (way at the back), great to see the dates collated.alittlelate wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 1:37 pmI have found this forum useful as many other appear to over the past year or so in working out what the current status is with regards to FBR timelines. If you whitelist just the domain name then it will also catch any other email addresses they might use. For example, in Google Mail I have the following. The same principle applies to other email applications.Riverside12 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 4:05 pmjamiepompey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 2:36 pmI think these two emails are generally the ones to add. Great work alittlelate. It appears that December 2019 people should be receiving some good news soon! Nothing to update for me - last one before lockdown - but I'll let this board knowalittlelate wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 1:37 pmI have found this forum useful as many other appear to over the past year or so in working out what the current status is with regards to FBR timelines.
