British passport application: called in for an interview

Post by b1c » Wed Sep 29, 2021 12:28 pm

Hello

I have applied (online) for my first British passport (I got the British citizenship more than 3yrs ago. I am an EU passport holder) and I have been asked to book an interview.
Does anyone know how common that is please? I though it wasn't required nowadays. Any ideas on what basis they decide who to interview and why?

Thanks

It is completely random who they ask to attend an interview. It is mainly to confirm details and your identity.
