Ilr to citizenship

Post by alyo » Mon Oct 04, 2021 4:38 pm

Hi there

Someone I know has just received ILR and will apply for citizenship after 12 months.

He has been offered by his current UK employer ltd company to travel and live for 10 months in a job role in Sweden. He will receive his salary as normal and will pay his income tax in the UK as normal.

Will the time spent in Sweden 10 months count as if he is in the UK?

Thank you
Alf

No it will not. It will be counted as absence and exceed the absence limit for the final 12 months.

Citizenship is based on residence in the UK.
