fee waiver effect on spouse visa

Post by yonis2210 » Fri Oct 15, 2021 2:29 pm

hi everyone,
my wife visa is about to expire very soon, as I meet all the requirement for the spouse visa extension. i wanted to know if I can apply for the fee waiver, which I earn more than £18,600, i can pay for the visa fees, but i would struggle during that month. iv been told that if i apply for the fee waiver, my wife route will change from 5 years to 10 years. could someone please explain this, as i am very confused

Fee Waiver is relevant to those applying on FLR(FP) parent or partner route correct. So if you do this, the route will change and reset the ILR clock to zero.

Is there an alternative fee waiver

No there is not. The fee waiver has specific requirements to qualify. Simply being short of money in the month you apply and pay fees is not one of them.

The spouse visa fees and IHS have been the same for at least 18 months now. You need to plan accordingly as you would have known when the extension would be due.

There is also no fee waiver for ILR when you get to that point, current cost is £2389 for standard service.
