British Naturalisation Requirements

Post by kimuk2022 » Thu Feb 17, 2022 3:56 pm

Hello everyone and hope you are all well.
I have lately applied for British citizenship and waiting for biometric appointment at the end of this month. I've been married to a British husband so one of their requirements is to submit a proof of living in the Uk for 3 years. Im just wondering what can be qualified according to the home office as a proof.Really appreciate if anyone here can please kindly advise.
thanks & regards
kim

Thanks CR001 for your advice. Appreciate it.
Also just 1 quick last question, as i need to upload all bank statement online before the biometric appointment, do i still need to print them all out and bring along on the day of appointment as all bank statements are now online, feeling like im doing unessential things or that is a procedure?
many thanks
kim

Hello CR001, thanks for your respond. In fact, the checklist the H.O sent me as of the following:
- passport
- proof of living in the UK for 3 years as the spouse of a British citizen
- marriage certificate
- proof of freedom from immigration time restriction
- degree certificate to prove level of E.
- 2 referee declaration
- proof of spouse's british citizenship
- current biometric permit

So you think the bank statements or any other types of bills/ payslips will be unnecessary in my case?
Thanks & regards
Kim

Hi there, sorry for jumping on this post, but my question is very similar to this thread. I'd really appreciate some advice on the documents to support my British naturalisation application. I currently have settlement status (Indefinite leave to remain) and have held it for more than 12 months.

I filled in the online application form and indicated that the supporting documents I would present include my current passport, residence permit, language certificate, referee declarations, and proof of freedom of immigration restrictions — I assumed this is the residence permit.

My question is about the proof of freedom of immigration restrictions: can I just submit my residence permit to cover both, the proof of freedom of immigration restrictions and the residence permit itself?

I can't find the letter from the Hope Office letting me know my application for ILR was approved, but I do have the letter that I received with my residence permit: would this letter be accepted as proof of freedom of immigration restrictions?

Thanks for your time and advice.

I can't find the letter from the Hope Office letting me know my application for ILR was approved, but I do have the letter that I received with my residence permit: would this letter be accepted as proof of freedom of immigration restrictions? Not required. BRP does all the work.

Thanks for your time and advice.

British citizenship ceremony advice

Post by kimuk2022 » Fri Jun 24, 2022 8:19 pm

Hello everyone,
Hope this finds everyone here all well.

I have been granted British citizenship lately in Apr, and was told (in the email) to book a ceremony wirh local council within 3 months from the date i received their email.
However i have got some family health probs back home so I am currently abroad and dont think i can make my way back to the Uk in time ( 3 months means i need to attend the ceremony on or before 11th july). I have a look on the gov website, its said that due to Cov, they extend the time frame of 6 months instead.
I then called the UKVI to double check. The lady on the phone said only 3 months not 6 months and gave me email address of citizenship.support@homeoffice.gov.uk to request an extension. I have emailed them twice since but no response at all. Was trying to contact the local council but they cant be of any help.
Please advise me what i should do now as ticket back home too way expensive cant afford coming back then going again.
Please help. Many thanks
kim
