Spouse Visa Coming up to 5 years

Post by ruel666 » Sun Feb 20, 2022 8:06 pm

Hello

I wonder is anyone can give me some advice regarding spouse visa.

I am a British citizen in UK since 1983

My wife arrived from Bangladesh on March 2017 on a 5 year route.

We renewed after 30 months which was pretty straight forward.

It is now due for renewal at 5 years.

Does she apply for ILR? What English test requirements does she need? Is there anything else I need to consider?

She is not of a disposition to pass the life in the UK test. Is this a requirement?

My income and housing is fine and we have two children aged 3 and 5mths.

Any advise would be greatly received as I cannot afford a solicitor on top of all other fees!

Yes, provided she can pass the LIfe in the UK test and a prescribed B1 level English language test.

Yes, for ILR after 5 years. To the best of my knowledge, it is not required for ILR Long Residence (after 10 years), but wait for others to advise.

In any case, even if she were exempt from it for ILR, it is a requirement for naturalisation, even for those who were exempt from it for ILR.

Check for support from the local council library and/or local community resources to help your wife study for the LITUK test. It is not very difficult.

LIUK is also mandatory for ilr based on long residence.

Thanks, @CR001. I was not sure on that point.
