New reference sigs mailed to CMU 29/9/21.
1st FOI Received: 11/10/21 - Showed Garda checking completed and return to CMU in Feb 2021 and then no processing since that time, and no mention of my email correspondence or attached files! Appeal filed.

As I was approaching 23 month mark and due to no response of query or any update since last FoI, I submitted a second FoI in preparation to go to JR

2nd FOI Response: 12/05/22 - Citizenship department email response saying they have approved my application and do I want to go ahead with FoI.

Date of Ceremony: Monday 20th June, Killarney (no option of taking certificate, had to take ceremony in June or next date was December.)

Guts of 22 months so far, I will proceed with the FoI so I can see exactly what was happening with what should have been a straight forward application. The fact that I had to use legal means of FoI twice to get them to examine my application is shocking. Although I am delighted to have finally been approved, I want to write to them with how poor and opaque the process is. Putting covid to one side, I have contacted them 4 times in nearly 2 years and received 1 response 8 months later! Had I not used FoI I do feel that application would be sat gathering dust when otherwise it was good to go.

I have wanted Irish citizenship since 1986, but I couldn't apply until an Irish-resident British-born relative found the necessary documents for an FBR application. I applied for naturalisation on the same basis. Having already waited so long before being able to apply, it was well worth a wait of more than 2 years to receive the certificate of naturalisation.
