Please help filling out naturalization form

Post by babbal_samrat » Sun Apr 17, 2022 6:35 am

Hi,
I have had my ILR since Aug 2008 but i never applied fr British citizenship. I am plannaning to do itnow,
Although i will be applying online but i guess Form An and online application should be almost similar (obviously i will not know what online application form is like until i start the process.
So, I was looking at the form AN to see if i need help filling out the form, and it turns out that i do need advicde and help in filling out.
If someone experienced can pleaseprovide help and advice on following sections of Form AN, that will be much appriciated.

1.1 Give any reference numbers used in your immigration applications:
Do i fill out refrence no from my BRPapplication or from My ILR application form as i only have had just these two applications since 2008. My BrP was issued in 2021 and ILR was in 2008.

1.22 Life in the UK
i cleared my Life in the UK test back in 2008 when i did my ILR application. but i do not have any details or refrence no. as it has been such a long time. only thing i have in regards to the Life in uk test is that:
Test Centre Name,
Test Instance ID
Test Score
Overall Result
Date and time of Test.
Will the above info be sufficient for Home Office to find my Life in the UK test certificate in their records.

1.38 Full name of previous husband or wife or civil partner (before marriage/civil partnership).
Provide details on page 23 if more than one previous marriage:

I am currently divorced (since 2018) and was married only once ever (that was the basis of my ILR).
do i still need to answer / fill the above section (1.38)

1.43 Date, place and reason for the ending of your previous marriage/civil partnership:
what do i fill here, the reason of ending the marriage was that we didnt get along so we got seperated and finally divorced.

1.50 Employment history in UK during past 10 years,
i do not remeber all my employers / company's name i worked for. some of the businesses have been closed / dissolved.
is it ok if i miss couple of employement details as i do not remember the details....
and also one of my previous employer in 2018, i had some issues with, which caused some heated arguements so i stopped working there. will this cause any problems (does home office contact employers to get any sort of refrence / in regards to good character.

2.1 Date and place of first arrival in the United Kingdom:
i very first arrived in UK was on May 2003. and since then i have been in and out of uk many times. but since July 2016 i never went out of UK.
so what do i fill in this section....

Refrees:
I do not know any professional bodies who could provide me refrence for my citizenship application.
I have one of my friend who is British Passport holder , he owns a limited company. can he be one of my refrees.
and 2nd person is another friend ,he also is a british passport holder but isnt a professional. can he be my 2nd refree.
Or do i have to have a doctor / solicitor/CA / engineer etc.

If someone can please provide me the answer to above queries to the best of their experience iwill be very thatkful and greatly appreciate it.

Note that the format of the online form will be slightly different but the details needed are the same - within the UK online applications are expected.
I will try and give you some pointers - note that questions must be answered as completely as possible, irrespective of what information you provided previously, or what you deeem relevant. Naturalisation is an application under the British Nationality Act with it's own requirements.

It's all immigration applications you made, all time - applying for a BRP is not an immigration application.

1.22 Life in the UK

If this is an offcial document from the test centre should be sufficient.

I am currently divorced (since 2018) and was married only once ever (that was the basis of my ILR).

Answer all questions to the best of yourknowledge.

1.43 Date, place and reason for the ending of your previous marriage/civil partnership:
what do i fill here, the reason of ending the marriage was that we didnt get along so we got seperated and finally divorced.
You got your answer!

1.50 Employment history in UK during past 10 years,
i do not remeber all my employers / company's name i worked for. some of the businesses have been closed / dissolved.
is it ok if i miss couple of employement details as i do not remember the details....

Give all details you have and make date estimates where you don't recall or have any information. Explain in a covering note. Employment is not a requirement for naturalisation. But you are expected to provide details.

2.1 Date and place of first arrival in the United Kingdom:
i very first arrived in UK was on May 2003. and since then i have been in and out of uk many times. but since July 2016 i never went out of UK.
so what do i fill in this section....
But you worked in the UK before 2016 on work visas? The date of the first work visa is more appropriate.

Hello everyone,
I started the online application for naturalization.

i have more queries. i need to provide 2 refrees. i was filling their details in.
there are 2 questions:
1. do these refrees get contacted? (I assume they do get contacted to verify the refrence)
2. will these refrees get to see the details of my application, such as the penalties, caution, warnings etc. will they be able to see all that?

Hello CR001 , alterhase58 and everyone,
I have filled out the Naturalization application form online. I started the application form about a month ago and was trying to find a professional referee. I did not submit the application form yet. today i found a referee so i logged in to my form to fill out the referee details but when i logged in, I was taken to a screen which said that there have been some changes in the application form so i have fill out that section again. it was the section where you fill criminal convictions.
I have had a caution in 2009 (I do not think if it was a condiotional caution as i do not remember if there was any condition with it). i do not have any paper/letter now if any was given to me at that point by police.

and i also have a community resolution which was issued in January 2017.

Now, My question is that on the application form online today it says that you do not need to declare a simple or youth caution. you must declare a conditional caution if issued in last months unless all conditions have been met. (It may have been a simple caution but not youth, i was 28 years old at that time).
So lets just say that even if it was a conditional caution, but since it has been almost 13 years now do i still need to declare it as on application form it says "you must declare the conditional caution issued in last months unless all conditions have been met.".

2nd question is that do i need to declare the "community resolution" as that was also 5 and half years ago. Someone has suggested that it becomes spent immidiately.

can you please provide some guidance / advice on how should i fill these in.

Declare them, they probably wouldn't have any effect on your application, but it sure would make you sleep better that you've not lied to them. Honesty is always the best policy.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
