British passport for UK born Indian child

British passport for UK born Indian child

My daughter was born in UK but currently in India. I have recently got my ILR and was wondering if its possible to apply for her British passport from India or does she have to be in UK to apply for it?

Was she born before you got ilr?

If so, she is not british so cannot just apply for a passport. Only a british citizen can apply for a british passport.

If she was born before you got ilr, you have to apply to register her as british first on form MN1 and once approved and you get the registration certificate, only then can you apply for her passport.

On registration as british, she will lose her indian citizenship.
