How to know British citizenship type from passport?

Hi

I am naturalised British citizen and had Indian passport earlier.
Currently working in India and have OCI.
My child was born in India, and I applied for British citizenship from India by descent as I have British passport.

We received British passport for my minor child but did not receive any certificate of registration. Is it like HMPO directly gives British passport without certificate of registration or did I miss it?

You can have either a British passport OR a Certificate of Entitlement-Right of Abode in a non-British passport. You can't have both.

There is no certificate of registration for a British citizen by descent. A certificate of registration is issued when a child is formally Registered as British on form MN1, which is not applicable to a child born to a British parent. The certificate of registration and a passport are two separate and independent things.

However in the case of my elder son, at that time I was living in Uk, myself and my minor elder son applied for British citizenship after having ILR. I received naturalisation certificate and my minor elder son received certificate of registration. And then we got British passports in Uk.

Thought similarly, would get certificate of registration for my Indian born son when I applied for British citizenship from india instead directly got passport.

If your child was born after you naturalised, then it’s your naturalisation certificate that confers your child’s British citizenship.

No, it is not printed anywhere in the passport.
