COS Validity/ Renewal

We recd. the below email from home office, does it refer to existing Defined COS which is already assigned or does it refer to asking for more or unused.

The confusion is whether they are asking to renew the 1 COS we already have active and in-use?

We do not want the existing one to be impacted by not renewing one which was allocated and used last year. We do not want more nor do we have any unused allocations.

you can apply to renew your allocation of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) or Confirmations of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) in Skilled Worker. You have not yet submitted a renewal request.

This allocation will expire on 19-August-2022. If CoS/CAS will be required beyond this date, a Level 1 user will need to submit a request, with the authority of the Authorising Officer, by selecting 'Request renewal of annual CoS/CAS allocations' from the 'Licence summary, applications and services' menu in SMS. There is no fee for this request type.

Hello everyone, if a Tier 2 visa is valid for 2 years does it also mean that the COS is also valid for the same period?

Is a COS renewed? or a new one is applied at expiry?

I ask about Defined COS.

You need a new undefined cos for a visa extension. You cannot use the initial defined cos for an extension.

Many Thanks CR001, so that would be through the SMS system and we will need to apply for an allocation prior to that, the 2 year period expires in 2023. Is there supporting documentation/paperwork required to be submitted along with the application for allocation and/or COS issuance of just the 2500 characters of details in the SMS system?

Also, we have been asked to renew allocation of COS this year, do we need to.so it this year or the next?
